This article shows what happened the first time we took a trip up to Knoydart. Just a three-day walking holiday with three friends and a map.
We can offer outdoor adventure which caters to all types of group. Our preferred venue is Knoydart, on the west coast of Scotland, but we can be flexible to meet your needs. Below are the types of trips or training that we are asked for most often...
Based in a remote location, you will be camping wild at night and either climbing the mountains, preparing firewood or fishing for your supper during the day. This popular adventure is very flexible, usually lasting 3 to 6 days or beyond.
Let our experienced and qualified mountain leaders take you on an expedition over mountains and wild country. Depending on your location, you will be wild camping, hammocking, or sleeping in a mountain bothy. Use one of our pre-planned expeditions, or contact us with your own adventure plans!
Training, Practice or Qualifying expeditions for the Gold Duke of Edinburgh are our speciality. Knoydart is perfect for the qualifying expedition, but we can assist in any area of the UK.
Our expert bushcraftmen, experienced in outdoor education, can teach you how to cut all ties with the outside world. After spending a day or more in the wilderness you will be able to build shelter, make fire, find food, and take care of yourself and your kit.
Our qualified mountain leaders can guide your group in any area of the UK. Simply let us know which area you would like to visit, and let us do the rest. We will prepare the route, set up any transport required, and provide kit lists and info sheets. We can also provide specialist equipment if required.
Our experienced and friendly hiking experts will do all the hard work in planning a suitable route for your group in an area of your choosing. Or you could join one of our pre-planned hill-walks by checking the calendar of events.
If you want to learn more about navigation, from novices to mountain-leaders-to-be, we can improve your skills on our regular courses. See our upcoming events for more information.
These trips are a more relaxed version of our survival adventures. We will pitch our tents at a remote area and spend the days fishing, strolling around the countryside, and relaxing around an open fire. We don't have to catch all of the food we eat - so there is more time available for admiring the landscapes and the wildlife.
Hints and Tips on the World
Wild HOG Adventures is an outdoor adventure company, specialising in offering high-quality, bespoke, adventures in wild and inaccessible terrain. Our principal venue is the peninsula of Knoydart, on the west coast of Scotland. Knoydart is one of the last remaining wildernesses in the British Isles, protected by the Knoydart Foundation and used by special forces and other groups for survival exercises. We work in co-operation with the Foundation's Rangers so that we can help to preserve this fantastic environment.
As well as our preferred venue, we will travel to your own base for day trips or training. Take a look below for examples of what we can offer, but remember that our speciality is bespoke packages, so give us a call to discuss your ideas, and we will let you know how we can realise them together.
Wild HOG's chief instructors have decades of experience in the outdoors and in outdoor education. They will work with you on every step of your adventure in order to make sure that achieve your goals. They will coach you in the necessities of living outdoors, and they will keep you safe while out on the mountain or at sea. Finally, they will make sure that you finish every day satisfied with your achievements, and looking forward to the next one.
Here are the adventures that we already have planned. You can book on in groups or individually - the prices are shown in the event description. Alternatively, please contact us for a bespoke event of your own.

Wild HOG's three chief instructors have well over 6 decades of combined experience behind them. These are the people that make every adventure one to remember...
Aged 30, Rick is qualified in outdoor leadership, a qualified Mountain Leader, an Archery GB Instructor, and an NSRA rifle shooting YPS tutor. He has been involved in outdoor education for 11 years. Rick does not play the guitar, but he will coax every last ounce of commitment from you when climbing a mountain.
Andy will not divulge his age, but he is our most experienced outdoor education instructor. He has been walking the UK's hills and mountains for over 40 years, and he is a qualified Archery GB Instructor and NSRA rifle shooting YPS tutor. His stories of his own adventures will keep you entertained for days.
Aged 34, Dave has been involved in outdoor education for 16 years. He is a kayak coach, powerboat instructor, and our expert bushcraftman. He also cooks and looks after base camp, mainly because he "doesn't do hills". On the other hand, he is also the one that organises every aspect of your adventure.
